By Luxolo Rubushe Adapt IT Education: Managing Director
Adapt IT Education continues to transform the lives of young South Africans by empowering them with innovative and digitally driven programmes of the future to create a sustainable digital economy.
“As the SA economy continues to challenged by, inter alia, COVID-19, digital technologies and services can help stimulate economic recovery and growth through ICT and digital skills training,” says Luxolo Rubushe, Adapt IT Education MD.
Rubushe and the business development team attended the Academy for Maritime Studies and boat launch at Motheo TVET College in Thaba Nchu recently. Addressing a packed venue of higher education stakeholders and TVET college officials, he shared the various contributions Adapt IT Education makes in advancing education and bridging the digital skills map.
The Maritime Academy launch was hailed as a crucial driver for producing critical and scarce skills in higher education – a project that took several years from concept to operationalisation. For Adapt IT Education, the launch allowed for the introduction of the ITS Integrator, a comprehensive administrative Enterprise Resource Planning software solution, to the various TVET colleges and explained the benefits of using the software to improve and streamline their administrative processes.
“Adapt IT Education has made significant sponsorship contributions to schools in the Free State province. We invest R4 million annually by offering 50 bursaries to students interested in pursuing a career in the ICT sector – the bursary programme administered by FUNDI. In the leadership space, we sponsor 30 programmes annually to the tune of R1.9 million. We have invested R2.16 million to fund 25 internship programmes as part of the Adapt IT Academy. As part of the Adopt-a-School Foundation, Adapt IT has invested R7.8 million supporting 616 schools.”
Part of the event allowed stakeholders to pledge their support for the Maritime Academy. “Adapt IT Education is currently investing in an augmented reality project in the various higher education institutions we work with. I am, therefore, pledging that Adapt IT Education create an augmented reality project that will comprise a virtual boat walk-through. This will certainly contribute towards creating a greater degree of competition in the skills sector.”
Rubushe also pledged to offer Motheo TVET College the implementation of Adapt IT Education Chatbot technology for a year. The Adapt IT chatbot automates administrative processes and allows administrative employees to focus on critical matters. The chatbot works with human experts to fulfil your student’s intentions at scale and create a memorable experience.
“As an organisation, our imperative now is to create a talent pipeline by investing in digital and ICT skills for training for the youth to be able to nurture and generate the skills needed for the jobs of the future,” adds Rubushe.
